dust
dust – gathering
dust – breeding
building their unattended kingdoms
in the secrecies of the heart
dust – in networks grey and white
dust – thin and soft
on the surface of the water in the neglected glass
on the leaves of the houseplant, in the drops of rain
on the window from the sky
thickening the air with textures –
beneath your fingernails, all thru the silicon maze –
on the promises too easy
on the cares that barely signify
on the indolent eye, in the waste between
the furthest star and your flickering arms
layer on layer
year on year
secrecy over history
boredom over tears
skin cells in their dying fall
captured in a cage of sunlight
carbon & silver explode in nebulae
a thousand microscopes thrown across the sky
